 『The True Common Sense』 ― 真の常識への目覚め

 

生命は、奇跡である。

これ程、不可思議なものはない。

生命は、無上の宝である。

これ程、無限の可能性を秘めたものはない。

 

ひとつひとつの命が、

この宇宙の大海原に息づき、

互いに支え合いながら生死を演じている。

今、この地球で「出会う」という事実に、

時空を超えた不思議な繋がりを感じる。

 

生命は尊厳である。

これを超えるものが果たして存在するだろうか。

生ありてこそ、万物は光り輝き、

死しては、多くが無価値なものとなる。

故に、「生命尊厳」こそ、万物共通の根本価値となろう。

 

「生命尊厳」―― 

それは、自己の無限の可能性を信じること。

そして、他者の無限の可能性をも信じること。

その力は、時空を超えて信じ抜く力であり、

「自立と相互奉仕」となって、森羅万象に具現化される。

 

これまで人類が積み重ねてきたあらゆる営みは、

この「生命尊厳」に照らして、真に評価されるべきであろう。

 

戦争や暴力、差別や環境破壊

――そのすべては、「生命尊厳」を忘れたところから始まった。

生命があまりにも近くにあるがゆえに、その尊厳を見失ってきた。

生命そのものへの無知ゆえに、その破壊と殺戮を繰り返してきた。

 

そして今、人類は三つの臨界点に直面している。

地球環境の臨界点――地球の限界を超えるのか、万物共生の道を選ぶのか。

科学技術の臨界点――非生命が制御を失い暴走するのか、生命に奉仕する道を選ぶのか。

核兵器の臨界点――抑止という虚構に沈黙するのか、廃絶という勇気を選ぶのか。

 

しかし、これら三つはすべて「究極の臨界点」に収斂する。

それは 精神――すなわち、人類の心の臨界点 である。

人類が「生命尊厳」を常識として共有できるかどうか。

｢生命尊厳｣こそ､時代を超え､国境を超え､宗教を超え､

人類が生き延びるために残された唯一の選択である｡

 

この「精神の常識」を選び取るか否か――それが、私たちの未来を決する。

進むべき道はただ一つ。

「生命尊厳」を基軸にした、生命讃歌の地球文明を築くことだ。

 

必要なのは 「生命尊厳」に対する想像力（Imagination）である。

生命尊厳なる「生活」とは、「人生」とは何か、

生命尊厳なる「社会」とは、「国家」とは何か、

そして、生命尊厳なる「人間」とは何か・・・。

さあ、想像してみよう！

生命尊厳なる「世界」を、「あなた」を。

 

この想像の力を人類が獲得すれば、もはや生命の軽視は皆無となろう。

その時、我らは真に 「生命の世紀」 を創造（Creation）することになる。

そして、この永遠の流れを「生命ルネサンス」と呼びたい。

そして、この新たな常識を万人と共有することが、

我ら共通の出発点となる。

The True Common Sense ― Awakening to True Common Sense

 

Life is a miracle.

There is nothing more mysterious than this.

Life is the supreme treasure.

There is nothing that holds greater infinite potential.

 

Each and every life

breathes within the great ocean of the universe,

enacting the drama of birth and death while supporting one another.

In the very fact that we “meet” here on Earth,

I feel a mysterious connection transcending time and space.

 

Life is dignity.

Could there possibly be anything that surpasses this?

Only in life do all things shine,

and with death, much becomes meaningless.

Therefore, “Life Dignity” must be the fundamental value shared by all existence.

 

“Life Dignity”――

It is to believe in one’s own infinite potential.

And also, to believe in the infinite potential of others.

This power is the strength to keep believing beyond time and space,

and it is embodied throughout the universe as “self-reliance and mutual service.”

 

All that humankind has built up until now

should be truly evaluated in the light of this “Life Dignity.”

 

Wars and violence, discrimination and environmental destruction

――all began when “Life Dignity” was forgotten.

Because life was too close at hand, its dignity was overlooked.

Out of ignorance toward life itself, humanity has repeated its destruction and slaughter.

 

And now, humankind stands at three critical thresholds.

The threshold of the Earth’s environment――will we exceed the planet’s limits,

or choose the path of symbiosis with all beings?

The threshold of science and technology――will the non-living lose control and run rampant,

or will we choose the path of serving life?

The threshold of nuclear weapons――will we remain silent in the illusion of deterrence,

or choose the courage of abolition?

 

Yet all three converge upon the “ultimate threshold.”

That is the spirit――in other words, the threshold of the human heart.

Can humanity share “Life Dignity” as common sense?

“Life Dignity” is the one and only choice left to us,

transcending eras, transcending borders, transcending religions,

for the survival of humankind.

 

Whether or not we choose this “Common Sense of the Spirit”――that will decide our future.

There is only one path forward:

to build a global civilization that exalts life,

with “Life Dignity” as its foundation.

 

What is needed is imagination for “Life Dignity.”

What does a life-dignity-based “daily life,” a “human life,” mean?

What does a life-dignity-based “society,” a “nation,” mean?

And what does a life-dignity-based “human being” mean…?

Now, let us imagine!

A life-dignity-based “world,” a life-dignity-based “you.”

 

If humanity gains this power of imagination,

then disregard for life will vanish completely.

At that time, we will truly create the Century of Life.

And we shall call this eternal flow the Life Renaissance.

 

The True Common Sense――

It is “the true common sense that upholds Life Dignity as the fundamental value.”

And sharing this new common sense with all people

will become our shared starting point.
